We’ve gotten so many new members and new energy to our group that it’s time to do some longer range planning. Our upcoming meeting will be a time to set some goals and think big. If you’re new to our group, feel free to check us out, and if you’ve been here for a while, let us know what help you want to take the next organizing step, i.e., book group, faith group, planning for listening circles, podcasts, webinars.
A Zoom link will be sent out on Sunday evening and then again late in the day on Monday. If you can’t be at the meeting let me know (don’t reply all) what your area of interest is and what you can realistically commit to.
Meanwhile, here is an invitation from the Black Liberation Theologians group:
Our group of Black Liberation Theologians is launching a study of the book, “Sisters in the Wilderness” by womanist theologian Delores Williams. This text centers the story of Hagar as a lens for Black women’s survival, God-talk, and liberation.
This study is rooted in womanist theology, Black liberation theology, and the Black radical tradition. Because of that, and because this text speaks from and to a particular community, this space is being held specifically for Black individuals. There will be 8 sessions discussing theology, race, politics, and themes of justice starting in July.
We’ll wrestle with questions like: What does the cross mean for people who have been forced to carry it for others? Who is God to the woman in the wilderness? What does survival demand of us theologically?
